Odaily Planet Daily Report: Trader T released data on the major institutional holders of Q2 Bitcoin spot ETFs:

1. BlackRock IBIT has 582 institutional holders, up 34% quarter-over-quarter; 11.8 million shares, excluding options, up 47% quarter-over-quarter.

2. Fidelity FBTC has 303 institutional holders, up 25% quarter-over-quarter; 50.4 million shares, excluding options, up 35% quarter-over-quarter.

3. Bitwise BITB has 139 institutional holders, up 35% quarter-over-quarter; 14.7 million shares, excluding options, up 50% quarter-over-quarter.

Odaily Odaily News Trader T released Q2 Bitcoin spot ETF main institutional holders data on X: 1. BlackRock IBIT 582 institutional holders, a month-on-month increase of 34%; 118 million shares, excluding options, a month-on-month increase of 47%; 2. Fidelity FBTC 303 institutional holders, a month-on-month increase of 25%; 50.4 million shares, excluding options, a month-on-month increase of 35%; 3. Bitwise BITB 139 institutional holders, a month-on-month increase of 35%; 14.7 million shares, excluding options, a month-on-month increase of 50%.

Analysis: In the second quarter, the number of institutions holding IBIT and FBTC increased by 34% and 25% respectively from the previous quarter.

Odaily reported that HODL15Capital posted on the X platform, stating that Bitcoin ETF data shows that as of August 16, 2024, 40 global funds hold 1,070,594 BTC, and BlackRock IBIT continues to increase its BTC holdings.

Odaily News: Bitwise Chief Information Officer Matt Hougan recently shared some preliminary thoughts on reviewing the Q2 Bitcoin ETF-related 13-F filings: "1. Institutions are still entering the market, and the number of 13-F filings has grown: Among all 10 ETFs, there are 1,924 holders <> ETF pairs, up from 1,479 in Q1, an increase of 30%; considering the drop in Bitcoin prices in Q2, this performance is not bad. Of course, this does not mean that there are 1,924 institutions owning Bitcoin ETFs; some investors report holding multiple ETFs. But this 'double counting' also applies to the Q1 and Q2 data, so the percentage growth is still quite convincing. My conclusion is: Institutional investors continued to adopt Bitcoin ETFs in Q2, and this trend has not changed. 2. Institutional investors (mostly) are diamond hands: Most of the institutional investors who allocated in Q1 held or bought more ETF shares in the spring of this year. Among the Q1 filers, 44% increased their Bitcoin ETF positions in Q2, 22% held steady, 21% reduced their positions, and 13% exited their positions. This is a pretty good result, comparable to other ETFs. My conclusion is: If you think institutional investors will panic at the first sign of volatility, the data shows otherwise. They are very stable. 3. Hedge funds are still important participants: Observing the largest holders of most ETFs, you'll find many major hedge funds: Millennium, Schonfeld, Boothbay, Capula, etc., as well as a large number of advisors, family offices, and select institutional investors. My conclusion is: ETFs are a big tent, attracting all kinds of investors. I'm happy to see Millennium's holdings in these ETF filings competing with Wisconsin. Over time, I hope to see a growing share of wealth management firms and pension funds."

Bitwise CIO: Institutions are still increasing their holdings of Bitcoin ETFs in Q2 and most of them are diamond hands, and hedge funds are important participants

As of August 16, Blackrock's IBIT holdings were 348,950.6323 Bit, an increase of 341.4412 BTC from the previous trading day. IBIT's market value has also returned above $20 billion, rising to $20,833,082,055.3.
