Former President Donald Trump and his family have confirmed the launch of their DeFi (DeFi) project called World Liberty Financial along with an accompanying Token .
In a discussion on the social media platform X with Trump and his three sons, the team confirmed that this DeFi project will have a Governance Token called WLFI.
While Donald Trump did not directly comment on the Token , crypto investor and entrepreneur Farokh Sarmad spoke on behalf of the project by issuing an official statement.
“The answer is yes, there will be a Token. Since I know you will ask me about this, I have prepared a written statement that I will read to give people some context and make sure they understand exactly what this Token is.
At World Liberty Financial, we believe that broad participation in the direction of the World Liberty Financial platform and DeFi is important. We believe that a Governance Token is the best way to achieve that outcome.
Therefore, we plan to sell and distribute Governance Token called WLFI in the future. WLFI Token are simply Governance Token, providing the right to propose and vote on platform-related issues…”
63% of WLFI Token will be sold to the public, 17% will be allocated to user rewards, and 20% will go to the development team.
Earlier this month, the project released a roadmap statement, saying that its mission is to spread the USD-pegged stablecoin and the DeFi concept globally.
In a new interview with Laura Shin on the Unchained podcast, Ogle, an anonymous security advisor for World Liberty Financial, admitted that the project would likely be a bigger target for hackers because of political factors.
The security expert said he helped the team conduct “drills” and checklists to prevent potential breaches.
At present, WLFI is not officially operational.
