PANews reported on October 5 that EigenLayer disclosed in a post on X that an isolated incident occurred this morning. An investor's email about transferring the vested tokens to the escrow address was hacked. The hacker replaced the specific address, resulting in 1,673,645 EIGEN tokens being mistakenly transferred to the hacker's address. The hacker has sold the stolen EIGEN tokens through a decentralized trading platform and transferred the stablecoins to a centralized exchange. EigenLayer said it is in contact with these platforms and law enforcement agencies, and some funds have been frozen. The attack did not involve the EigenLayer protocol itself, and the protocol or token contract did not expose vulnerabilities.
According to previous news, Lookonchain monitored an address that received 1.67 million EIGEN from the Eigenlayer team wallet and sold them all at a price of $3.3, equivalent to about $5.51 million.
