Welcome to the most sci-fi episode.
The evolution speed of AI Meme is beyond imagination, and the angle is getting more and more advanced.
This type of Meme topic is like a TV series, with changes in each episode - from AI being able to issue coins, to AI being able to buy coins; from AI being able to have dialogues, to AI being able to talk about philosophy...
Everyone is writing about the autonomous consciousness and capabilities of AI agents, and most of the selling points are "what my AI can do".
The Meme that came out today, ProjectSid, directly elevated this "doing things" to a higher level:
What our AI is doing is the great cause of creating civilization.
This has to be said to be a kind of encrypted return to the origin phenomenon, as the grand vision written in the whitepapers of those big-eyed VC coins has also been used as a gimmick by Meme.
It is touted as a high-level technology. The important thing is that the market is still quite buying into this narrative in the short term.
The namesake token ProjectSid has been on a wild run since 10 a.m. this morning, with its market value rising from tens of thousands to around 4 million, making it one of today's large MC memecoins.
And behind the ProjectSid token, an AI team that is seriously doing business but not too closely related to the token is gradually emerging.
1000+ intelligent agents, creating civilization in my world
In fact, the coin called ProjectSid originally came from a project of the same name, ProjectSid.
Although the name Sid looks similar to the letters in the well-known strategic simulation game "Sid Meier's Civilization", note that this is not an informal Meme project, but a solid AI startup called Altera, which is doing business related to AI Agents and intelligent agents.
In September this year, Altera's co-founder nico @nicochristie posted on X that they are developing a project called Project Sid - which is also the first attempt in this track to have AI agents autonomously create civilizations.
What does that mean? It means they want to create an "intelligent agent civilization" that runs independently by AI agents, allowing these agents to interact and communicate in their own way, simulating a world similar to human civilization.
And this experimental field has been placed in the well-known simulation game Minecraft.
Due to the high DIY degree of this game, the company has stuffed more than 1,000 AI intelligent agents into the game, each of which is a completely autonomous individual, and they will also use tools and the game to achieve their goals.
So they have built their own culture, economy, religion and government, etc. in the game, and they also have their own social rules and systems...
The activities of more than 1,000 intelligent agents almost 1:1 replicate the human world. They can participate in activities in the game 24 hours a day, non-stop, and their performance is different every day.
Doesn't it have a bit of the sci-fi flavor of the machine crisis or "Westworld"?
However, this project is obviously not just for playing games, but for testing the level of cooperation of AI.
With the support of GPT-4, the ability of more than 1,000 intelligent agents to cooperate, explore the world and collect items has been significantly strengthened, far exceeding Nvidia's Voyager, AutoGPT, and Princeton Google's ReAct, with the test items collected being 5 times more than them.
It can be said that the performance of the intelligent agents based on AI agents in this game is very successful, but the story is still not related to the Meme coin.
Riding the trend, finding reasons to be bullish in the clues
This Sid project was actually posted on X as early as September, and the reason it became popular today is of course the recent hot trend of AI memes, and the new coin's Devs and communities have naturally also seen the advanced narrative angle of Project Sid creating civilizations.
In the comments under the original post by co-founder Nico, someone asked today "Do you have a wallet address?".
Nico also gladly shared his wallet address, and then the old trick of riding the trend and finding legitimacy came up - a token called Project Sid was created by different people, and then some of the tokens were sent to Nico's wallet address.
Faced with the real and fake, Nico personally responded to support the relatively OG one among these tokens, which can be seen as endorsing the connection between the token and the AI project.
Subsequently, the token with the contract address BTdGTUjHz5FUSf91Ufo9L9r4LFMTRhE1qDtvUUfypump further increased, with a market cap of around 3 million as of the time of writing.
So the story is clear at this point, it's not that the official team launched a coin themselves;
But community players have closely followed the trend and created a community coin around this AI project, and have received affirmation from the project developers.
At this point, the task of constructing the narrative angle of the Meme is complete, and the rest is to find reasons to be bullish.
Keen-eyed netizens have found various clues to increase the Bullish sentiment, the most widely circulated of which is the financing situation of Altera, the company behind this project:
Data shows that Altera raised $9 million in a seed round in May this year, with participation from A16Z GAMES Speedrun and other institutions; and also raised $2 million in a pre-seed round from A16Z and other institutions in January.
Combined with A16Z's recent moves in AI and the hot trend of a16z-derived Memes, Project Sid's Meme has also ridden the trend.
Issuing your own coins, sending coins to the developers, from a human nature point of view the other party is naturally willing and welcoming, as they not only get token revenue, but also increase their visibility, why not?
And for Degens, there is another PVP angle to speculate on, and it is a beautiful thing to be able to profit from it.
However, this is still not an official coin, and the connection to top VCs and AI technology is only a distant relative, so how much profit the late-coming latecomers can get in this narrative is still uncertain.
Risk warning: MEME has no actual value support, is greatly affected by market sentiment, and most (over 99%) MEME are PVP, which will eventually go to zero. This article is only for sharing personal experience and does not constitute any investment advice.
