According to official information, the Filecoin Fast Finality (F3) team is conducting the final stage of preparatory testing on the mainnet. F3 will shorten the finality time from 900 block height to about 2 blocks, bringing advantages such as faster transaction confirmation, strengthened cross-chain experience, more efficient lightweight client-side, and a streamlined storage provider data storage process.
Within the next 2 to 4 weeks, the team will collect data on the feasibility of F3 implementation through passive testing. If there are no critical issues in the final stage of testing, the F3 release process may be as follows:
- Early December 2024: Release the calibrated nv25 upgrade and deploy the final F3 code (F3 activation and operation).
- Mid-December 2024: Release the mainnet nv25/F3 activation block height set for the client-side.
- January 2025: Official activation of the mainnet nv25/F3.
