PANews reported on December 5 that according to DigiTimes, Elon Musk's artificial intelligence startup xAI has successfully reached a priority order agreement with NVIDIA, ordering $1.08 billion worth of GB200 AI servers. These servers are manufactured by Foxconn and are expected to be delivered starting in January 2025. Musk directly negotiated this priority order with NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang to support the rapid development of xAI. xAI's recent valuation has reached $50 billion, and it plans to launch an independent application to promote its large language model Grok. Grok is currently online on the X platform, and the independent application will further expand the user coverage.
According to Reuters, Elon Musk's artificial intelligence startup xAI plans to expand its supercomputer Colossus located in Memphis, Tennessee, USA, to at least 1 million GPUs (graphics processing units), a tenfold increase from the current scale. The current system already has 100,000 GPUs, supporting the training of xAI's chatbot Grok. This expansion is supported by Nvidia, Dell, and Super Micro.
