Although the blockchain gaming track has attracted the attention of capital and the market, its gameplay and models are highly homogenized, lacking true innovative breakthroughs. However, with the rise of AI agent technology, the blockchain gaming industry may usher in a new window of transformation. In this wave, The Farm, through deep integration with the AI Agent, tries to create an unprecedented immersive game world and redefine the interaction between players and the virtual ecosystem.
In addition to conceptual innovation, The Farm, which is in line with the current industry hotspots, has also gained initial recognition from the market, with a current market value of $75 million, and even once surged nearly 50% on January 3.
The Farm: GenAI-driven AI Agent Game
The Farm is the first GenAI-driven AI agent game based on Hyperliquid, integrating on-chain biological generation (similar to CryptoKitties 2.0), simulation management (like Stardew Valley), and combat mechanisms (like Pokémon Go), using AI to achieve a new player creation and interaction experience. The game drives the economic ecosystem through the $FARM token and gradually unfolds through multi-stage gameplay.
Game Design and Features
Phase 1: The Ancestors
This phase went live on December 13, 2024 and ended a week after launch. During this period, players can upload two photos and generate a pixel-style mixed creature created by the GenAI model for free. After spending 100 USDC to mint the creature they like, they will participate in voting, and the top 50 creatures in the voting results will become "Ancestors". The "Ancestors" will receive 10% of the minting revenue of all future creatures. The Ancestors, their creators, and voters will also receive airdrop rewards from the developer's wallet.

Phase 2: Evolution
This phase will start immediately after the Ancestors selection on December 20 and continue to be rolled out. All creatures will be endowed with characteristics, attributes, skills, personalities, favorite foods, etc., all generated by AI. Creatures will be given personalities, on-chain wallets, and support for text and voice dialogues. These creatures can learn AI skills such as tarot reading and drawing. Players can train creatures by uploading data and purchase food or enroll in courses to improve their attributes. In addition, creatures will gradually unlock autonomous agent behaviors.
Phase 3: The Battlefield
According to The Farm's roadmap, this phase is planned to be launched in mid-February 2025. Creatures can participate in battles independently or as part of player-formed guilds. The battle mode supports betting, and the winning side will receive the bet reward from the losing side, while the creatures of the losing side may be destroyed. In this phase, the interaction and competition dimensions of creatures will be further expanded.
The Farm's System Design
According to an article published by The Farm introducing its system design, the game did not adopt the more mainstream SWARM system, but was based on and inherited the design philosophy of Langchain.
SWARM has the characteristics of self-governance, decentralization, and flexibility. Each AI agent acts as an independent node in the SWARM pool, with the prominent feature of emergent behavior, which can lead to dynamic propagation in task management. That is, tasks are processed through decentralized, adaptive interactions, and agents dynamically discover and collaborate to complete tasks based on local decisions and interactions.
When a request is sent to an AI agent in the SWARM pool, the agent may either complete the request and return the result independently, or decompose the request into subtasks, handle a portion itself, and pass the remaining subtasks to other AI agents in the SWARM pool for processing. In the latter case, since the agent cannot obtain a global view of the capabilities of all agents in the SWARM pool, its dynamic propagation method may include broadcasting subtasks, forwarding based on local knowledge, random or rule-based allocation of subtasks, or reading agent capability information from the decentralized ledger. Although these dynamic propagation methods endow the SWARM system with agent autonomy, due to the lack of task planning and trajectory planning mechanisms, there may be defects such as time-consuming, high-cost, and loss of execution status.
As a game involving multiple agent interactions, The Farm proposes another complete design concept to achieve higher task planning accuracy and better agent coordination. The Farm believes that multi-agent systems on the chain should have higher task trajectory planning accuracy and track the execution status of agents, which can be achieved through the Data Availability (DA) layer.
Unlike the SWARM system, The Farm introduces an Orchestrator AI or on-chain AI Oracle service. The functional features of this design concept include: task decomposition and allocation, service discovery and global view, subtask execution status and agent output result tracking, and dynamic adjustment to ensure task cycle integrity (if an agent cannot handle a task or times out, the system will reallocate the subtask). By using a global view and optimal path planning, it avoids the redundant computation and resource waste caused by dynamic propagation, and greatly improves the execution efficiency and success rate of complex tasks. This approach also reduces the risk of state loss and provides a basis for collaboration between agents, enabling a higher degree of interoperability in the multi-agent network.
Token Model: Half of Protocol Revenue Used for FARM Buyback and Burn
Starting from the GenAI-based AI agent game, The Farm initially plans to attract users through on-chain biological generation (similar to CryptoKitties 2.0) combined with simulation management gameplay (like Stardew Valley) and combat mechanisms (like Pokémon Go), and gradually expand to become a general AI agent startup platform, ultimately providing Rollup-as-a-Service functionality, allowing AI agents to have their own application chains and develop their ecosystems.
In terms of revenue mechanism, The Farm's game part generates revenue through the $FARM token for on-chain biological generation, in-game item and skill sales, and battle/betting commissions. The general AI agent startup platform supports agents to issue their own tokens and charges fees for pre-sales and liquidity launch stages, as well as commissions from agent services.
For agents supporting application chains, they need to stake $FARM to launch the application chain. 50% of the protocol revenue is used for $FARM buyback and burn, 40% is allocated to $FARM stakers, and 10% is allocated to the team. In addition, $FARM stakers can obtain $veFARM, which is used to share revenue and configure agent priority, realizing the continuous accumulation of token value.
By introducing AI agents, The Farm aims to enhance the experience of open-world game players exploring the unknown world and growing. Players can create characters that can continuously evolve according to their personal preferences, no longer limited to a few fixed templates. The game world will also no longer have a preset script, and all players' creativity will jointly shape the world. In addition, characters can interact with real-world characters, breaking the boundary between virtual and reality.
