Grayscale has revealed a long list of new cryptocurrencies, including meme coins and AI tokens, that may soon be added to its investment products.
As part of the review process, this investment fund adjusts its potential product portfolio 15 days after the end of each quarter.
Grayscale Reveals Potential Candidates for Q1 2025
In an official statement, Grayscale said it is considering adding 39 altcoins to its list of potential digital asset investments. This list of 39 altcoins is divided into five groups: Currency (cryptocurrency assets as a medium of exchange or store of value), Smart Contract Platforms, Finance, Consumer & Culture, and Utilities & Services.
Grayscale's Crypto Sectors | Assets Under Consideration |
Currency | Kaspa (KAS) |
Smart Contract Platforms | Aptos (APT), Arbitrum (ARB), Celestia (TIA), Hedera Hashgraph (HBAR), Mantle (MNT), Sei (SEI), Sonic (S) Starknet (STRK), Toncoin (TON), TRON (TRX) |
Finance | Aerodrome (AERO), Binance Coin (BNB), Ethena (ENA), Hyperliquid (HYPE)* Injective Protocol (INJ), Jupiter (JUP), Ondo Finance (ONDO), Pendle (PENDLE), THORChain (RUNE). |
Consumer & Culture | Ai16z (AI16Z)* Dogecoin (DOGE), Immutable (IMX), Virtuals Protocol (VIRTUAL)* |
Utilities & Services | Akash Network (AKT), Artificial Superintelligence Alliance (FET), Arweave (AR), Eigen Layer (EIGEN), FLock.io (FLOCK)*, Grass (GRASS)*, Helium (HNT), Hyperbolic*, Jito (JTO), Prime Intellect*, Pyth (PYTH), Sentient*, Space and Time*, Story Protocol*, and Worldcoin (WLD). |
Notably, this is not the first time Grayscale has added altcoins to its potential investment product portfolio. In a similar move, the fund previously added 35 altcoins to its investment consideration list in mid-October.
According to the table above, some altcoins that were already in the previous consideration list are still in the latest list. Among them are KAS, APT, ARB, and TIA. Similarly, some others have been removed. This indicates the complexity of making it onto Grayscale's list of investable projects.
Grayscale further stated:
The list may change during the quarter as some multi-asset funds are reconstituted and we launch new single-asset products
Assets or projects marked with an asterisk (*) were only added to the list after December 31st. Their inclusion may be based on emerging trends in the development of the cryptocurrency industry.
Compared to the previous announcement, this updated list shows that Grayscale is paying attention to RWA, DePin, and AI, with a particular focus on AI agent tokens.
Additionally, Grayscale has also included Binance Coin (BNB) and Hyperliquid (HYPE), which are tokens associated with centralized and decentralized exchanges. This suggests the company is looking to penetrate the exchange ecosystem and expand its investment scope.
Grayscale's announcement also did not have a significant impact on the prices of any of the 39 altcoins. The overall market has seen continuous liquidation over the past week, with a slight recovery recorded today.
