Hackathon Summary
Trustworthy AI Lab x GES UCLA Hackathon showcased innovative solutions from nine projects registered by 21 developers. The virtual event was held from May 29 to June 28, 2024, focusing on using predictive models to enhance user engagement and advertising effectiveness. Two detailed datasets provided insights into user demographics and interactions, laying the foundation for platforms that facilitate collaboration between content creators and advertisers while ensuring a positive user experience.
The projects were evaluated by a panel of judges comprising academic experts (such as Professor Guang Cheng) and industry professionals from companies like Amazon, Snap, and Intel. The total prize pool of $ 1,500 was distributed among the top solutions, based on criteria such as accuracy, innovation, scalability, and efficiency. Additionally, the event offered summer internship opportunities at the UCLA Trustworthy AI Lab, allowing participants to further develop their skills. While emphasizing practical applications, the projects were required to provide runnable machine learning code and demonstration slides, with the ultimate goal of seeking scalable innovative solutions that respect data privacy and support real-time performance.
