Odaily reports that three informed sources said that senior Republican officials at the SEC are preparing to begin reforming the agency's cryptocurrency policy as early as next week after Trump takes office. Two of the informed sources said that SEC Commissioners Hester Peirce and Mark Uyeda are considering measures including initiating relevant procedures to ultimately formulate guidance or rules clarifying under what circumstances the agency will view cryptocurrencies as securities, and reviewing some cryptocurrency enforcement cases currently in court. The first recommendation is to abolish the anti-cryptocurrency banking policy <SAB 121>. This regulation currently restricts banks from holding digital assets, requiring them to classify these assets as liabilities. <Pompliano> believes that eliminating this obstacle will allow banks to hold Bitcoin on behalf of their clients, which will drive institutional demand for cryptocurrencies. He points out that allowing financial institutions to include Bitcoin on their balance sheets can create a stronger ecosystem for digital assets. This change can also provide a competitive advantage for US banks in the rapidly growing global cryptocurrency market.

Another action proposed by <Pompliano> is to establish a national Bitcoin reserve. He emphasizes that the US government already owns around 200,000 Bitcoins, which can serve as a foundation for establishing such a reserve. He suggests that increasing the government's Bitcoin holdings rather than liquidating them would be a wise move.
