PANews reported on January 23 that Solana developer Cantelopepeel announced his resignation and the establishment of Unto Labs, with plans to develop a brand-new Layer1 blockchain. As the core engineer of the Firedancer new client, he had led the team to showcase the capability of processing 1 million transactions per second and 1 billion computational units per second at Breakpoint 2024. Unto Labs will adopt a completely new architecture, redesigning everything from the virtual machine to the consensus mechanism, but will not create an SVM chain.
