PANews reported on February 27 that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) confirmed that the North Korean hacker group "TraderTraitor" was responsible for the $150 million cryptocurrency theft from the Bybit exchange on February 21. The FBI stated that the hackers have converted a portion of the stolen funds into Bit and distributed them across multiple blockchain addresses, and are expected to subsequently launder the funds into fiat currency.
The FBI urged RPC node operators, exchanges, DeFi service providers, and blockchain analytics firms to block addresses associated with TraderTraitor to prevent the further circulation of the stolen assets. Additionally, the FBI listed several Ethereum addresses related to the group and called on businesses to cooperate with law enforcement agencies to combat North Korean cyber-criminal activities.
