PANews reported on April 5th that according to Sina Finance, on Friday local time, a federal judge ruled that Musk's lawsuit against OpenAI will start a jury trial in the spring of 2026. The presiding judge from the Northern California Federal District Court, Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers, rejected Musk's request to halt OpenAI's transition to a for-profit model last month and proposed to expedite the trial process.
This adds a new development to the courtroom confrontation between the world's richest person and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. The two parties have previously reached an agreement to accelerate the trial regarding OpenAI's transition to a for-profit model. Musk co-founded OpenAI with Altman in 2015 but exited before the company took off and established the competitive enterprise xAI in 2023. In April this year, xAI acquired Musk's social media platform X at a valuation of $33 billion, allowing his AI company to share the valuation with X's co-investors.
