The TON chain yesterday (16th) posted on the social platform X, stating that TON's native network wallet wallet.ton.org has completed its latest upgrade with the support of TON Core and MyTONWallet, with the newest version supporting all core technologies of the TON blockchain, including:
- Jettons: TON's token standard, similar to ERC-20.
- Mintless Jettons: Lightweight tokens that do not require minting.
- Non-Fungible Tokens: Supporting Non-Fungible Tokens on TON, including Telegram Gifts (unique NFTs in the Telegram ecosystem).
- TON DNS: TON's decentralized domain name system for simplifying address identification.
- TON Connect: A protocol for securely connecting to decentralized applications (dApp).
- Ledger: Supporting Ledger hardware wallet to enhance asset security.
Meanwhile, TON also pointed out that the Chrome extension for wallet.ton.org is currently under review and will be officially launched soon.
What is wallet.ton.org?
wallet.ton.org is the first network wallet in the TON ecosystem, created by Kirill Emelyanenko and another developer in 2020. Its open-source code became the foundation for many subsequent TON wallets.
Compared to wallets with more features (such as MyTonWallet and Tonkeeper), wallet.ton.org is positioned as a simple backup tool, emphasizing reliability, free access, and open-source characteristics, suitable for users who need basic functions or a lightweight wallet.
wallet.ton.org is jointly maintained by TON Core and MyTonWallet teams. TON Core is responsible for underlying technical support (such as protocol integration), while MyTonWallet focuses on client-side functions and interface optimization.
Usage Scenarios for wallet.ton.org
- Basic Asset Management: Suitable for beginners or users who only need to store and transfer TON assets.
- Developer Testing: Its open-source nature makes it an ideal tool for developers to test TON features (such as Jettons, Non-Fungible Tokens, TON Connect).
- Backup Wallet: Provides a backup option for users of other main wallets (such as Tonkeeper).
