Stańczak, Executive Director of the Ethereum Foundation, tweeted, "With recent leadership changes at the Ethereum Foundation, our goal is to give Vitalik more time for research and exploration, rather than daily coordination or crisis management. I want to clearly state that Vitalik's proposals have always been influential, but they are intended to initiate dialogue and encourage progress in challenging research areas. Community review may significantly modify proposals or even reject them. We hope other researchers will have the same freedom to boldly raise difficult questions and propose alternatives, such as Justin Drake and Dankrad Feist. Ethereum researchers often ask readers to recognize the exploratory nature of their posts and proposals. Focus remains crucial. Within the EF, we will shift most of our research efforts towards short-term goals, aiming to address user experience and scalability challenges in the next two protocol upgrades."
Foresight News previously reported that on April 20, Vitalik Buterin proposed replacing Ethereum's EVM with the open-source instruction set architecture RISC-V in the Ethereum Magicians forum to enhance scalability. Existing EVM contracts will remain valid and be fully bidirectionally interoperable with new RISC-V contracts. The proposal aims to address Ethereum's long-term scalability bottlenecks in data availability, block production competitiveness, and ZK-EVM proofs.
