Seeing Shadows power ApeStake and now the most anticipated mint in recent ApeChain history has been something.
I still see a bit of confusion about how they work, so here's a quick thread to clear up some FAQs
1/🧵
2/ What do you need to do to "activate" your shadow?
The answer is NOTHING. If you do absolutely nothing, you will own a shadow on ApeChain in the same wallet as your asset on Eth.
3/ What happens if I sell my shadow?
You can't*! Shadows are soulbound (or rather, tokenbound to their mainnet counterparts -- or more specifically, to their mainnet counterparts' owner's delegations [more on that in the next tweet]). They can only be moved by Beacon messages.

4/ but I want to mint things using Shadows in my hot wallet?
Easy. I lied when I said they were tokenbound -- they're bound to delegations. This function is used to calculate the owner of a Shadow -- if an asset owner issued a shadow delegation, that delegate is returned. If

5/ That is to say, issuing a shadow delegation will move your Shadow for you. But you certainly don't have to do that.
If you don't you can still issue normal delegations ON ApeChain, and protocols that support old fashioned delegation (hint: Blever does!) will recognize it.
6/ tl;dr 3 ways to use shadows:
✅ Do nothing, use on ApeChain from your vault
✅ Shadow delegate on ETH, use it on ApeChain from your hot wallet on any platform
✅ Standard delegate on ApeChain, use it on ApeChain from your hot wallet on platforms that support delegate
7/ You can also bridge it to ApeChain (or any shadow supported chain), but that's a conversation for another day.
Great to see Shadows having an early impact, and I can't wait to see where they grow to next.
Oh, what was that hooting sound?
