PANews reported on April 29 that according to Cointelegraph, Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren called on government officials to address issues related to the meme coin and media company of former US President Trump. Warren, along with Adam Schiff, wrote a joint letter to the government ethics office, requesting an investigation into the potential ethical risks of the TRUMP meme coin launched by Trump. The letter pointed out that Trump previously promised a White House dinner and visit opportunity for supporters holding the most TRUMP tokens, which may potentially violate the Federal Anti-Bribery Law and the compensation clause of the Constitution.
The letter specifically emphasized that the token could become a new channel for foreign forces to anonymously purchase political influence. On the same day, Warren also wrote to the SEC chairman, demanding to ensure that the regulation of Trump's media company is not politically interfered with. Although Warren serves as a senior member of the Senate Banking Committee, the Democratic Party currently holds a minority position in Congress.
