1/9) We can scale the L1 to billions now!
The blockchain trilemma has been solved with sharding; true horizontal scaling
NEAR & EGLD can theoretically scale to over 1M TPS right now! 🔥
Without compromising speed, security or decentralisation, that is the real cutting edge: 🧵
2/9) This is ETH's original roadmap, fully implemented & live on multiple chains right now
Fast cross-shard communication is a problem we only solved this year!
Meaning that sharded chains can now finally compete with the likes of SOL, SUI & APT on speed!
Fulfilling the dream:

3/9) Offering greater capacity while keeping node requirements low
Because in sharding, increasing capacity does not increase node requirements!
Solving the speed trade-off (fast cross-shard TX's) was one of the final pieces in the puzzle
All that is left is making it dynamic:
4/9) As shards are still manually added to the chain as demand increases
The final design automates this in the protocol, along with shard load balancing
It is so scalable because the main bottleneck is the max number of shards
It's like running thousands of SOL's in parallel!

5/9) What makes this so powerful is perfect interoperability without trust trade-offs
From a user's perspective, it feels like using a single chain, a coherent whole
This is what makes it a form of monolithic L1 scaling & not modular
All the pros & none of the cons of modular!
6/9) As all of the shards are identical to each other
Combined that with, an L1 enshrined cross-shard communication protocol & it solves all the fragmentation & UX problems of "L2 scaling"
L1 sharding can also be compared to based/enshrined roll-ups, as they are almost the same

7/9) Contrary to popular belief;
Sharding is not less secure, as it is impossible to attack a single shard without attacking all shards
As long as individual shards are above the threshold for DDoS attacks, which is guaranteed by the protocol
Thanks to validator shuffling:

8/9) Validators are randomly assigned to shards
This is what makes stake-based attacks on individual shards mathematically impossible
Much of the cryptocurrency ecosystem is still in denial of the power behind this technology
By spreading the workload across groups of machines

9/9) Sharding solves crypto's biggest problems:
Massive capacity (1M+ TPS), Fast (sub-second finality), all while preserving decentralisation! 🔥
Reject technological pessimism, as that only forces unnecessary compromise
The future is bright; accelerate & solve everything! 🕊️
