i would say right now Open AI / Grok are about 10x as useful to me as Google.
This seems to be the next AOL / Yahoo / Myspace story.
A little thread on everything Google is doing wrong...

First, Chat GPT was released in Nov 22. That's 2.5 Years ago. Still, to this day, no actual "AI" on Google's home page.
Instead, they chose to rebrand this as "gemini" without even owning the .com. MASSIVE Brand confusion.

If you end up at http:/gemini.google.com -- you go to one of the most vacuous, poorly designed pages on the Internet. There is the rainbow "Hello <name>", the non-sensical "try advanced" (who wouldn't?) and the horrific non-buttons. 3/N

The results are awful. Here's a simple example. I am looking for Van Eyk "Bit Bonds" -- Grok clearly understands what I mean. Gemini does not have a clue

Between the horrible branding, the bad UX, and the overall bad results, its pretty clear that Google doesn't take AI seriously at all.
I'm glad I no longer own the stock.

Epilogue: The "advanced" mode is simply a way for Google to take more of your money.
I understand Gemini 2.5 might work for coders, but as an end user project, its dead in the water.
@Doomdayclock
what's with the rainbow "pride" look? this might be cool to an SF-based designer, but not to mainstream America.
