According to the Financial Times, PANews reports on May 23rd that despite the founder Pavel Durov being under formal investigation in France for allegedly failing to handle platform criminal content, Telegram still achieved $540 million in profits in 2024, with revenues reaching $1.4 billion, growing by over 3 times year-on-year. The company is seeking to issue $1.5 billion in bonds to repay old debt and pave the way for a potential future IPO. Approximately half of the revenues come from "ecosystem cooperation", including mini-applications based on the TON blockchain and Toncoin payments; advertising and subscription revenues were $250 million and $292 million respectively. Telegram stated its goal is to reach $2 billion in revenues and $720 million in profits by 2025. Meanwhile, Durov accused the French investigation of being a "geopolitical" operation. Telegram has also collaborated with Elon Musk's AI company xAI, integrating its Grok chatbot into the platform.
