ChainCatcher reports that a former employee of the Government Efficiency Department (DOGE) stated in their first interview after leaving that with Musk's departure from the Trump administration, the government efficiency improvement project is likely to stall. The Tesla CEO announced the end of his special government employee status on Wednesday night but insisted that DOGE would continue to operate. However, insiders revealed that the department, which once pledged to cut $2 trillion in federal spending, actually only saved about $175 billion, with statistical data riddled with loopholes.
Software engineer Sahil Lavi, who worked at DOGE for nearly two months, predicted that the department would quickly "fold up". "Like the dying whimper," Lavi, who was fired earlier this month, told Reuters, "The core charm of this project was Musk himself". He expects DOGE employees will "gradually stop working, just like children joining a startup that will collapse after four months"
