According to ChainCatcher, citing CryptoSlate, an international law enforcement operation successfully dismantled one of the world's largest Dark Web criminal markets, "Archetyp Market", which was estimated to generate over 250 million euros (approximately 267 million USD) in sales, entirely relying on the privacy-focused cryptocurrency XMR for transactions.
The operation was coordinated by multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Frankfurt Public Prosecutor's Office, German Federal Criminal Police, Spanish National Police, and Dutch National Police. On June 11, the Spanish Police Tactical Unit arrested the 30-year-old German main suspect in Barcelona, seizing 8 mobile phones, 4 computers, 34 storage devices, and assets worth approximately 7.8 million euros (8.3 million USD). Germany and Sweden also conducted further coordinated actions against market-related suppliers, arresting seven suspects in Sweden. The primary suspects will face charges of operating a large-scale drug trafficking network under German law.
