According to ChainCatcher, Bitcoin Layer2 Stacks and the interoperability platform Wormhole have announced a strategic partnership aimed at deploying sBTC across multiple chains through Wormhole's Native Token Transfer (NTT) standard, releasing Bitcoin's native liquidity and promoting cross-chain development in DeFi.
sBTC is a decentralized asset launched by Stacks, 1:1 anchored to Bitcoin, allowing users to trustlessly transfer BTC between the Bitcoin network and other blockchains while maintaining its characteristics. In less than half a year since its launch, sBTC's total locked value (TVL) has exceeded $500 million, surpassing the Lightning Network and Liquid, becoming one of the largest native Bitcoin Layer2 solutions.
This collaboration will enable sBTC to leverage Wormhole's cross-chain infrastructure, achieving native liquidity circulation on mainstream blockchains such as Solana and Sui, without relying on traditional wrapped assets. Stacks ecosystem core members Asymmetric Research and DeFi protocols Granite and Zest will also participate in the integration, jointly enhancing Bitcoin's application potential in cross-chain finance.
