We have multiple case studies of blockchains becoming permissive of massive, contiguous arbitrary data and very soon after getting filled up with CSAM - one of them even a fork of Bitcoin.
The reputational fallout from this would be completely impossible to counter.
This isn't a theoretical concern. We have real world examples I can point to.
People keep dismissing this as political theatre or fear mongering when it's obviously going to be exactly what happens.
