Ethereum is preparing for a major milestone with the Fusaka upgrade, which is expected to officially roll out on mainnet on December 3, 2025. This is XEM as an important step to optimize performance not only for Ethereum but also for the entire Layer2 ecosystem.
At their most recent meeting, Ethereum developers agreed on a specific timeline for Fusaka’s rollout. Prior to the mainnet launch, the upgrade will be tested on multiple testnets: Holesky (October 1), Sepolia (October 14), and Hoodi (October 28). This roadmap is to ensure that any technical issues can be identified and addressed before the upgrade goes live.
In parallel, the Ethereum Foundation has also launched a four-week security testing competition, with a total prize value of up to 2 million USD . This is a move to encourage the global developer and security expert community to participate in searching for potential vulnerabilities, making the Fusaka upgrade more secure and complete.
Fusaka’s focus is on PeerDAS (Peer Data Availability Sampling) technology – a method of validating large-scale data without downloading the entire data. This technology is expected to improve Ethereum’s scalability while reducing costs and improving operational efficiency for Layer2 solutions, which are increasingly important in the context of strong transaction demand.
