Two prominent Web3 projects, World and Mythical Games, have just announced a strategic partnership to solve one of the most pressing problems in the online gaming world today: distinguishing between real players and automated bots. This is XEM a big step forward in the effort to build a fairer, more transparent and more community-oriented gaming environment.
Under the deal, Mythical Games – the creator of popular titles like NFL Rivals , FIFA Rivals , and Pudgy Party (inspired by the Pudgy Penguins Non-Fungible Token collection) – will integrate World’s “Proof of Human” identification technology into its player registration system. This technology requires users to verify their real identity through a live iris scan, ensuring each account represents a real person, not a bot.
A step forward against “invading bots” in games
In a joint statement, both companies stressed that while bots can be used for technical support or game testing purposes, they also have serious consequences: distorting in-game economies, creating unfair advantages, and stealing rewards that should go to real players.
A survey conducted by World in April 2024 found that nearly 75% of gamers felt that bots made the game less fun. This is the reason why many Web3 gaming platforms are looking to implement forms of identity verification to ensure fairness for the gaming community.
Sam Altman and his vision of a “real” digital world
The World Project – backed by Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI – is at the center of the “human identification” trend in the digital space. The World ID system developed by the project allows users to prove they are real people by scanning their irises with a specialized “Orb” device. Once verified, they will receive the platform’s WLD Token .
To date, World has attracted more than 17 million global users, an impressive number that shows the growing need to separate real people from virtual entities or automated bots.
Mythical Games pioneers Layer 3 blockchain
Going beyond identity verification integration, Mythical Games also announced that it will deploy its MYTHOS chain on the World Network, becoming the first Layer 3 blockchain built on the World Chain. This move opens up significant scalability for the Web3 gaming ecosystem, where players can not only participate but also actually own and trade their digital assets in a transparent and secure manner.
