This debate is as old as Bitcoin. Here's Satoshi himself firmly rejecting additional arbitrary data in the Bitcoin blockchain. The blockchain is immutable. This fact comes with serious tradeoffs when it comes to allowing data other than related to native Bitcoin transactions.
