I have a theory as to why OpenSea really changed the default NFT price denomination from crypto to USD:
Because the NFT market is so dead rn, there’s no volume for NFTs & OpenSea
So how do you generate volume?
By showing the USD prices of NFTs instead of their crypto prices
That way, NFT mfers will see that despite NFTs being down, their jpegs are still actually worth thousands of bucks…
And that’s thousand of bucks they can get instantly when they sell in OpenSea
Voila! They just created new transactions which generates new tx fees for OpenSea
