What would make it easier for teams to select quality auditors/audit firms with fewer mistakes?

It's weird how difficult it is to buy anything at all complicated without making a few mistakes at first. No amount of preliminary research seems to be sufficient. You always end up buying a few lemons before you figure out what you're doing.
