A proposal has been proposed to utilize a KRW stablecoin, offering greater benefits the more frequently you visit and spend in Busan. The idea is to leverage the programmable nature of blockchain technology to issue KRW coins in the form of local gift certificates usable only under specific conditions, with loyalty rewards based on usage frequency.
Hashed CEO Kim Seo-jun made this announcement at the "Blockchain Week in Busan (BWB) 2025" held at the Signiel Hotel in Busan on the 22nd, unveiling "Silk Pocket," a digital asset wallet jointly developed with the Busan Digital Asset Exchange and Naver Financial since May of this year. Silk Pocket is designed as a super app that supports not only payments, remittances, and exchanges for Dongbaekjeon, the Busan local currency issued as a KRW stablecoin, but also blockchain-based identity verification, voting, and administrative services for Busan citizens.

The most significant feature of this service, based on programmable blockchain technology, is its ability to introduce a KRW stablecoin that can be used only during specific periods, locations, or events. This system, which offers benefits like mileage to frequent visitors to Busan and actual spending, along with a feature that automatically expires if not used within a certain period, is expected to have an immediate impact on revitalizing tourism and consumption in Busan.
CEO Kim said, “We are designing a digital gift certificate that will act as a catalyst to bring outside visitors to Busan by expanding the local currency Dongbaekjeon, which already has a high citizen usage rate due to its various benefits,” and emphasized, “Now, when Korean cultural content fandoms are being formed voluntarily all over the world, is the golden time to experiment with this.”
