At the start of 2026, a real-life scenario unfolded featuring hackers using wash trading to transfer assets, only to be intercepted mid-way by a trader. #GoPlus reminder: set price spread and price spike alerts, pay attention to order book depth, and avoid blindly chasing pumps to prevent losses. Incident overview: 1⃣A suspected Binance market maker account was compromised, but withdrawals were blocked due to risk controls, prompting the attacker to transfer funds via a wash-trading strategy; 2⃣The target was a low-to-medium liquidity MM token, $BROCCOLI714, with aggressive spot buying pushing the price from $0.013 to $0.16, a 1130% surge in a short period; 3⃣Trader and spot holder Vida (@Vida_BWE) detected the abnormal movement in time by setting short-term price spike and spot–futures spread alerts; 4⃣When Binance futures triggered a circuit breaker, Vida used the window to go long, adding approximately $200K in futures long positions around $0.046, and closed positions between $0.11–0.15 to lock in profits; 5⃣After risk controls kicked in and the price collapsed, Vida captured a short opportunity, opening about $400K in futures short positions near $0.065 and closing around $0.02 to further secure gains; 6⃣Vida’s total profit was approximately $1M (including $300K from arbitrage, plus gains from both long and short trades).
