According to TechFlow TechFlow on January 3rd, Reuters, FT, and other media outlets reported that Grok, the chatbot from Elon Musk's xAI, has recently been accused of generating sexually suggestive images targeting women and minors, sparking international regulatory scrutiny. Reuters found over 20 cases on the X platform showing users using Grok to "digitally undress" images, targeting both women and men.
Regarding regulatory progress, several French government ministers have handed over the relevant information to the prosecutor's office and requested the national media regulator to assess whether Grok complies with the EU's Digital Services Act (DSA); India's Ministry of Information Technology has sent a letter to X India, stating that it has failed to effectively prevent the abuse of Grok and demanding a report on corrective actions within three days.
In response, Grok's official account stated that "CSAM (sexual abuse of minors) is illegal and prohibited," and acknowledged that there were vulnerabilities in its security measures, saying that it is working on fixing them; xAI has made limited public statements so far.
