Social media reports suggest that Blue Origin, the aerospace company founded by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, has begun or is about to open reservations for New Shepard suborbital tourism using Ethereum (ETH). If true, this would mark the first time crypto assets have become a primary settlement channel for commercial manned launches.
It is rumored that Blue Origin is internally testing a crypto wallet payment process, but this has not yet been officially confirmed by Blue Origin, and the website has not disclosed wallet addresses, exchange rates, or other mechanisms. The authenticity of this information remains to be verified.
Blue Origin had accumulated nearly 100 passengers by the end of 2025, including its first wheelchair-bound engineer, Michaela Benthaus. A single flight lasts approximately 11 minutes and reaches an altitude of 105 kilometers. Ticket prices are estimated to remain in the million-dollar range, currently still considered a top-tier entertainment option for the wealthy.
Blue Origin successfully recovered rocket booster
On the other hand, Blue Origin successfully launched its New Glenn rocket at the end of 2025, carrying out its first NASA-paid mission, sending two satellites to Mars and successfully recovering the rocket boosters, marking a new milestone for the company and gradually catching up with SpaceX.
The New Glenn is a heavy-lift launch vehicle. Although its thrust is comparable to that of the Falcon Heavy, it has a larger cargo capacity, demonstrating Blue Origin's ambition and challenging spirit for future space missions. However, it still lags significantly behind SpaceX's nearly 280 launches.
