According to Odaily Odaily, Vitalik Buterin stated in an article on the X platform that Ethereum was not created to improve financial efficiency or ease of use, but rather to liberate users. Vitalik Buterin (vitalik.eth) pointed out that while efficiency and convenience are valuable, Ethereum's core competitiveness lies in its resilience. Resilience is not about pursuing higher returns, but about minimizing the risk of 100% asset loss, ensuring the network remains stable even in extreme situations such as developer disappearances, platform bans, or cyberwars.
Vitalik Buterin emphasized that resilience is sovereignty, aiming to reduce vulnerability to external dependence and empower users as equal participants rather than corporate subservients. The very nature of Web2 technology is not suited for building resilient systems, and the notion of resilience in the financial industry is too simplistic. Ethereum's primary task is to provide a decentralized, permissionless, and resilient block space, and on this basis, achieve sufficient space.
