Vitalik: Ethereum should prioritize increasing bandwidth rather than pursuing extremely low latency; L2 will play a key role in the long term.

According to Foresight News , Vitalik Buterin tweeted, "Increasing bandwidth is safer and more reliable than reducing latency. Ethereum's scalability can be increased thousands of times with PeerDAS and ZKP, without compromising decentralization. Latency, on the other hand, is limited by physical laws and real-world environments, such as supporting global home nodes, censorship resistance, and anonymity. I believe reducing latency to within the 2–4 second range is a reasonable goal, while more real-time applications (such as AI-driven ones) will rely on localized scaling such as L2 and 'city chains'."
