Nikita Bier, former product manager of X (Twitter) and also an ecosystem advisor for Solana, posted on the X platform on January 11, 2026, stating that X is actively developing the "Smart Cashtags" feature, allowing users to accurately specify specific assets or smart contracts when posting tickers, avoiding the confusion caused by traditional tags. Nikita Bier emphasized in her post:
"X is the best source of financial news—and hundreds of billions of dollars are allocated based on what people read here. We're building Smart Cashtags, which allow you to precisely specify a particular asset (or smart contract) when posting a ticker. On the timeline, users can click on these tags to see the asset's real-time price and all related posts mentioning that asset. Our goal is to continuously gather feedback and iterate before the public release next month."
According to the concept diagram shared by Nikita Bier, users can not only see the real-time price and market value trend of the corresponding asset after clicking on the tag, but also browse all related discussion threads, which greatly improves the convenience and accuracy of financial information.
On-chain assets are not missed.
Furthermore, during a community interaction on the same day, Nikita Bier revealed further key details in response to a user's question about the source of information on small-cap cryptocurrencies (especially those tokens not yet listed on major exchanges and only appearing on decentralized platforms). He explicitly stated :
"The API we are using will provide almost real-time data support for any minted asset."
Nikita Bier's post suggests that the X platform will not only cover traditional stocks and mainstream cryptocurrencies in the future, but will also be particularly beneficial to emerging tokens on public chains, allowing users to directly access the latest on-chain prices and related information when browsing discussions, greatly reducing the hassle of jumping to external tools.
Analysts also believe that this feature will not only clear up the chaos in financial discussions, but may also be an important step in the X platform's transformation into a "real-time financial information center", and may even pave the way for the future integration of trading functions.
