Trump just suspended tariffs on 8 EU countries over Greenland.
✅ Markets surged
✅ S&P 500 had its best day in two months
But the damage to transatlantic relations is not reversing.
Here's what happened🧵

1/ Few days back. Trump threatened tariffs on 8 EU countries of 10% starting Feb 1, escalating to 25% by June.
Yesterday he met NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and suspended tariffs indefinitely and claimed "framework for a future deal" exists.
While Danish Foreign Minister said, it is positive that military force will not be used, but the problem doesn't go away... Greenland remains Denmark's red line.

2/ Trump at Davos said that he would not use force to take Greenland.
Then immediately added, "You can say yes and we'd be grateful or say no and we'll remember that"
A harsh warning dressed as diplomacy.

Trump:
We would be unstoppable if I used excessive force, but I won't do that.
Now everyone is saying, "oh good."
People thought I was going to use force, I am not going to use force.

I think I have deja vu with Chinese tariff wars on 2025.
Same situation, similar dump.
Not a coincidence?
Did you read the playbook?
He can hear you:
Tariffs paused, tensions linger.
