A woman in Hong Kong was lured into investing through a social media platform and lost approximately HK$21.4 million in cryptocurrency.

According to Foresight News , citing Hong Kong's Wen Wei Po, Hong Kong police reported that a woman was lured into investing in cryptocurrency through a trading platform after meeting a man on a social media platform. Between August and December last year, she made multiple transfers, accumulating a loss of approximately HK$21.4 million in cryptocurrency. Unable to withdraw her assets, the victim suspected fraud and reported the incident to the police. The case has been classified as "obtaining property by deception" and is being investigated by the Tseung Kwan O District Criminal Investigation Team. No arrests have been made yet. Police remind the public to be wary of high-return investment scams and so-called "insider information" on social media platforms.
