Good to see this, one of my best mates lost his leg in Helmand at 17… just 6 months into his first tour in the Royal Marines.
It’s pretty grim how amputee veterans are treated in the UK - discharged with just £200k and a tiny state pension.
For anyone to say they served “a bit behind the front” is wildly disrespectful.
The marine that stopped the haemorrhaging and saved his life is producing a documentary on life as an amputee post war atm.
Highly recommend everyone watches it to see the sacrifices UK soldiers went through in both Afghanistan and Iraq.
