Two major onchain social protocols changed hands in under 48 hours...@farcaster_xyz → @neynarxyz and @LC → @masknetwork.
In @TheBlock__'s Jan 25 edition of *The Funding*, our Research Associate @jakub_rusiecki shared why crypto social is uniquely unforgiving:
“distribution and network effects dominate,” and crypto adds extra friction around wallets, safety, moderation, and identity.
He also pointed to a key lesson from early SocialFi: incentives can spark attention, but they don’t create durable reasons to stay, like consistently strong content or meaningful social loops.
Where we land: this feels less like “dead” and more like a reset toward product + distribution realities.
