Yesterday I read a book, *The Infinity Machine*, about DeepMind and Hassabis. Coincidentally, I read another book a few years ago, *The Infinite Machine*, about Ethereum and Vitalik. Both books, one about AI, the other about cryptography, even share the same title: "Infinite Machine." Two machines, sharing the same name, but heading in opposite directions. The crypto machine is outwardly "dispersing," aiming from the beginning to break down power and distribute it among countless nodes and ordinary people, making it impossible for anyone to shut down or control. The AI machine, on the other hand, is inwardly "gathering," concentrating all of humanity's knowledge, massive amounts of data, and top-tier computing power into a super brain, attempting to make it omnipotent. Looking at it from today's perspective is somewhat poignant. One machine is quietly lying dormant in a trough, its ideals still far from being realized. The other is racing towards a dreamlike future. And so, the era cycles. This is how time repeats itself. I wonder if these two machines will meet in some unexpected way in the future.

The English version of DeepMind's *The Infinity Machine* won't be officially released until the end of March. However, the Chinese version was already available in early March. It's unclear whether this is a deliberate business strategy or simply the exceptional efficiency of Chinese publishers. The book's Chinese title isn't *Infinity Machine*, but rather *Hassabis: The Brain of Google AI*.
