The article emphasizes that in the history of computing, most software consisted of pre-recorded instructions, with algorithms written by humans and then executed by computers. However, AI has completely broken this framework, becoming the first technology in history capable of instantly understanding unstructured information (such as images, sounds, and text) and generating intelligence.

To illustrate this industrial-scale transformation, NVIDIA breaks down the AI industry structure into five levels:
- Energy: The most fundamental and crucial foundation. Nvidia points out that instantaneously generated intelligence requires instantaneous electrical conversion; energy is the absolute ceiling limiting how much intelligence the entire system can generate.
- Chips: Responsible for efficiently converting electricity into computing power, they determine the speed of AI expansion and the cost of intelligence.
- Infrastructure: This includes land, cooling systems, and networks. These systems, which coordinate tens of thousands of processors, are called "AI factories" by Nvidia and are specifically designed to create intelligence rather than store information.
- Models: AI models covering fields such as language, biology, chemistry, and physics simulation.
- Applications: Located at the top level, these are where real economic value is created, such as new drug development platforms, legal assistants, or self-driving cars.
Trillions of dollars in construction projects ignite labor demand
Nvidia emphasizes that every successful AI application creates significant demand across all levels, even extending to the power plants that sustain its operation. Currently, global AI development has only invested hundreds of billions of dollars, with trillions more in infrastructure yet to be built, representing the largest construction boom in human history.
It's worth noting that this wave isn't limited to tech elites; there's also a pressing need for plumbers, steelworkers, plumbers, and network technicians to build AI factories.
