EU foreign ministers called for an end to the war in Iraq and urged a diplomatic solution to the Hormuz crisis.

According to Mars Finance, on March 17th, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas called on the United States and Israel to end their war against Iran, emphasizing that the EU is consulting with several Middle Eastern countries to de-escalate the current conflict through diplomatic means. Kallas stated that the EU has communicated with Gulf states, Jordan, Egypt, and others, seeking to promote negotiations among all parties to de-escalate the conflict and provide a "dignified exit" for the relevant countries. Regarding the energy and shipping crisis triggered by Iran's blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, Kallas proposed using the Black Sea Grain Initiative model to ensure navigational safety in the strait through international mechanisms. She stated that she has communicated this proposal with the UN Secretary-General, and the UN is currently advancing related discussions.
