From the evening of March 20th to March 21st, many ONUS users reported being unable to log into the application, not receiving OTP codes, and unable to access their assets held on the platform. The application displayed login error messages, while numerous social media reports indicated widespread disruption.

Simultaneously, HVA's announcement on March 21st stated that authorities are conducting inspections at several related units in various provinces and cities. According to this announcement, some accounting personnel and operational equipment, including transaction authentication devices, are temporarily unusable, leading to disruptions in several authentication-related functions, particularly login, payment order approval, and withdrawal request processing.
According to the same source, HVA stated that approximately 80% of investors' assets are currently allocated to securities companies and fund management companies but cannot be withdrawn due to a lack of OTP devices and authorized personnel for approval, while the remaining 20% are temporarily frozen on the related partner systems. This is currently only information provided by HVA and not an official conclusion from the authorities.
On ONUS's side, as of the morning of March 21st, the platform had yet to issue any official statement or public announcement to explain the incident, despite numerous comments on community channels requesting a response.
ONUS is a digital asset platform launched in March 2020, initially linked to the VNDC ecosystem before expanding to a multi-functional digital asset investment and trading model. In the data leak at the end of 2021, hackers claimed the platform had over 1.92 million accounts, with approximately 90% being Vietnamese users. According to Eric Vuong, as quoted in this report, ONUS had over 7 million global users by the end of last year. Meanwhile, the content on the ONUS website itself describes the platform as having launched on March 23, 2020, and having over 4 million users, suggesting that the reported user base may change over time.
This development is attracting significant attention because it coincides with the controlled pilot phase being prepared for in Vietnam's digital asset market. In the short term, the market's focus will be on the official response from ONUS, as well as specific guidance for affected users regarding login, asset withdrawal, and account status verification.
