ChainCatcher reports that on-chain detective ZachXBT revealed today that a collaborative network of at least 10 accounts is gaining traffic on the social platform X by creating war-related panic content, ultimately directing traffic to crypto scam projects.
This network rapidly gained millions of views and a large number of interactions by purchasing accounts with existing fan bases, frequently posting sensational "doomsday" content, and amplifying its spread through multiple secondary accounts reposting it. Investigations revealed that these accounts also used AI to generate fake personas, such as a fake "Asian version of Mario Nawfal," to enhance credibility. After acquiring traffic, these accounts promoted fake airdrop events or cryptocurrency scams, including a concentrated promotion of a pump-and-dump scheme called ORAMAMA on February 22, 2026, which was subsequently withdrawn.
On-chain data shows that this operation has already generated six-figure profits for the team behind it. Meanwhile, numerous legitimate influential accounts unintentionally participated in the interaction through comments and reposts, further amplifying the content's spread. ZachXBT warns that this combination of "traffic farms + AI content + crypto fraud" is highly sophisticated and easily replicated. If similar mechanisms are exploited by higher-level organizations, their potential impact will extend far beyond financial fraud, and could even evolve into a tool for manipulating public opinion.
ZachXBT called on platforms to strengthen oversight and impose bans and legal consequences for such manipulative behavior. It also advised users to carefully verify account history and information sources before participating in interactions to combat the increasing prevalence of fake content and "interaction bait."
