On March 25, CNBC reported that JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon said on Tuesday that while a war with Iran poses risks in the short term, it could help improve the prospects for lasting peace in the Middle East in the long term.
"I think the war with Iran actually increases the likelihood of peace in the long run—but it's riskier in the short term because we don't know the final outcome," he said at a conference in Washington, D.C.
Dimon points out that the key change lies in the convergence of interests among the region's major countries. He states that Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, the United States, and Israel all desire lasting peace, and the Gulf states, in particular, have shown a willingness to move in this direction.
He said, "The attitude is different now than it was 20 years ago; all parties hope to achieve this goal."
