I've always argued that the one thing most stories get wrong is platonic friendships. Storytellers cave into the allure of romantic tension, because it's an easy cop out to engage audiences But not with Harry and Hermione, their friendship has and will always be platonic and that makes a whole lot of difference for a generation that does not have any good pop culture displays of platonic friendships. Do this and you ruin the beauty of the ending and the character arc of Ron.
