ChainCatcher reports that Ernst & Young (EY), one of the Big Four accounting firms, has announced the launch of a blockchain privacy sandbox, a web-based development environment that allows developers to experiment with privacy-preserving smart contracts on public blockchains compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM).
This sandbox is based on Starlight, a zero-knowledge proof (ZKP) compiler developed and open-sourced by EY. It can convert standard Solidity smart contracts into privacy-preserving applications while retaining the original contract logic. By providing a network environment that does not require local configuration and API integration support, this tool aims to lower the barrier for enterprises to adopt zero-knowledge technologies and facilitate feasibility verification before formal deployment.
