World Assets (the Token Issuance of the World Foundation) announced that it has completed over-the-counter (OTC) sales of WLD worth $65 million with four partners, according to a post on X.
Transactions took place over the past week, and the first payment was completed on March 20th. The World Foundation stated that the Medium selling price was approximately $0.2719 USD/WLD, equivalent to a total of approximately 239 million WLD sold. Of this $65 million, $25 million worth of Token were subject to a 6-month lock-up period. The remaining payments will be processed through a multisig wallet designated by World Assets. The proceeds will be used for core operations, R&D, Orb device manufacturing, and ecosystem development.
The official announcement came just days after Lookonchain discovered that 117 million WLD (approximately $39 million USD) had been transferred to Binance and FalconX on March 21st. The project received approximately $35 million USDC for that batch, implicitly suggesting the actual selling price at the time was around $0.3 USD/WLD. This transaction appears to be part of the larger $65 million OTC package recently announced by the World Foundation.
This latest sale continues World Assets' trend of "Dump its reserves." In April 2024, the organization (then known as Worldcoin Foundation) announced it would privately sell 0.5–1.5 million WLD per week to institutional trading firms. By May 2025, the project had raised $135 million from selling WLD to investors such as Andreessen Horowitz and Bain Capital Crypto to expand in the US.
Notably, the new OTC price is significantly lower than before: $0.2719/WLD, a fraction of the approximately $1.13 in the May 2025 auction and around $5.43 at the time the auction plan was announced in April 2024.
Currently, WLD is trading around $0.27 after hitting a historical Dip of $0.2444 earlier in the day. The Token has fallen approximately 97% from its peak of nearly $11.82 in March 2024. Its market Capital is around $850 million, while its fully diluted valuation (FDV) is approximately $2.7 billion.
Supply pressure could increase further as a large community Token Lockup unlock is scheduled to begin on July 23, 2026 (according to defillama). This unlock involves approximately 52.5% of the total 10 billion WLD supply – equivalent to about 169% of the circulating Token – and will be unlocked gradually at a rate of approximately 4.79 million WLD per day.
