According to ME News, on March 30th (UTC+8), AI pioneer Jürgen Schmidhuber will deliver a lecture entitled "Lectio Magistralis" in Turin on March 31st, 2026. The lecture will review and envision the past, present, future, and distant future of machine learning and artificial intelligence, covering Schmidhuber's foundational contributions to generative AI (such as GANs, Transformers, self-supervised pre-training, and neural network distillation), LSTM, HighwayNet, meta-learning, and neural AI. The lecture places AI development within the context of cosmic history, envisioning its evolution from virtual to real, developing into physical AI for real robots, and ultimately forming an autonomous machine civilization, while in the short term, making human life longer, healthier, and easier.
